THIS IS NOT AN ANCHOR, THIS BOAT IS NOT AN ANCHOR
s16mm / color and b&w / 11:10 min / 2007

Through a dense mist we emerge into a foggy marshland. Slowly and achingly a mysterious landscape is revealed. Foghorns and sharp cuts jolt the meandering sense of place and memory, creating a sense of unease and anxiety within (Images Festival).

Kinetic sculpture is a coiling mobile of long panes of semi-transparent cloth, fixed to rotating ceiling fixture. Multiple projection of 16mm and s8 hand-processed film, juxtaposes stillness of abandoned cityscape with movement of mobile.

AGAINST SOFT EARTH
16mm & DV / color / 11:17 min / 2006
The simultaneous desire to forget and the fear of forgetting entirely: A man disintegrates into a lingering landscape as memory fails and only the impressions of an identity remain. These differing impressions do not here attempt to reconcile themselves, but, together, point across time, across generations, to something unified that carries through.
